Hey Bengaluru Parents !!! – Are you looking for fun day out options to do with your kiddos on a weekend ?? If yes – do read on as you’re in for a treat. Located on Mysore road, is an amazingly beautiful farm, spread over 150 acres (that’s right – it’s as big as it can get) called Sri Bhagyalakshmi Farms.
The place is serene & has loads to offer for both kids and adults. Mr. Srinivas Murthy, the person in-charge is very very passionate about the farm and educates about each and every aspect of what they do, in a fun way.
They take you in a tractor across their orchard which houses Mango trees, Sapota plants and many other varieties of plants that grow fruits like Pomelo, Litchis & Rambutan. You can not only pick these but also buy them for a small price. (A big plus is that they are all organic). Then, there is also a trip to their green house, kitchen garden, vertical gardens and bonsai plantation. (They have more than 10,000 Bonsais on their farm.)
No – we are not done yet – the fun part for kids is the animals and birds on the farm. They have some super cute dogs & pups that you can pet and hold. They also have a shed for goats and sheep & a separate one for cows. Children are allowed to hold & pet the younger animals. The visit to the cow shed is very educative as you can witness the modern milking machines and also see how cow dung is used to produce bio-gas. Then, there is also a bird aviary which houses many types of colorful birds. Could see most children enjoying feeding these birds and having them on their shoulder.
From the huge banyan tree at the entrance to the aviary, a day visit to this farm is a complete modern farm experience. They currently have only day out packages which includes either both breakfast & lunch or just lunch. While the food is simple, it is very tasty. You can easily spend about 5-6 hours in the farm. Prices are reasonable (about 700rs for adults (lunch package) and 400rs for kids). These are subject to change so please give them a call before heading out. Also – I was told that prior reservation is compulsory so that the food can be prepared.
