This canteen in Banashankari 3rd stage called Taaza Thindi (meaning Tasty Food in Kannada) is the cleanest idly-dosa serving canteen/darshini we have ever come across in Bangalore. They have implemented so many measures that ensure the food being served to its customers is cooked and served in a hygienic manner.
For instance, they use an automated dish washer and sterilizing unit, an organic dish washing liquid, a temperature controlled fermentation chamber, a hi-tech batter preparation unit and a water filtration system. Further, their chefs and servers wear hand gloves, head caps and face masks. All these measures ensure that the food is not only cooked but also served hygienically. It is literally a visual treat to see these measures being implemented through their transparent glass-clad walls.
Unlike many canteens which do not have a place to sit, here you will find a nice small indoor and outdoor seating setup which further improves the overall ambience of the place.
This canteen is not just about hygiene but also about tasty value-for-money food. They serve limited items in small quantities, allowing one to consume more varieties than usual. Their menu includes idly, vada, kharabath, kesaribath, plain dosa, masala dosa, coffee and tea (hope I dint miss out on anything).
They are all tasty and priced very reasonably. The costliest dish is the masala/plain dosa which would lighten your wallet by just INR25. Idli, vada, coffee and tea are priced at INR 10 each. For this kind of ambience – the prices are as low as it can get. Hence – do expect a huge crowd on almost all days especially the weekends.
This is not their only outlet. They have one at Jayanagar 4th T block as well. This was in fact their first outlet. Though much smaller, Taste & pricing wise, they are the same. Do visit whichever is closer to you. Their standard opening hours is 7am to 12pm (12:30 on weekends) and 4pm to 9:30pm.
