While most of us have flown in an airplane, very few of us would have experienced the Business Class. So for the rest of us who fly primarily in economy, the experience of dining is not really out-of-the-world. Having pre-cooked meals in crampy seats with limited leg room is not really one’s fondest memory of being in an airplane, isn’t it?
But this is set to change, thanks to this fine-dine restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Launched on 24th April 2018 by ‘TwoSpicy Entertainment Live’, this restaurant is set inside an actual Boeing 737 (you read it right…a real Boeing!!!)
While, it can accommodate up to 20 people per dining session, it can be transformed into a Lounge to accommodate up to 50 people. (so if you are planning a corporate function or a private event such as birthdays and anniversary – do dial them up).
Speaking about what a customer could experience here, the company told BucketList.Asia, “Plane In The City is a 90-minutes experience revolving around an actual Boeing 737 aircraft on ground, during when its ‘passengers’ will get a chance-of-a-lifetime to do things such as taking a ‘selfie’ while sticking their heads out of the Pilot’s cockpit, walking on the wings of the aircraft, enjoying a fine-dining meal serenaded by today’s hit music and more.”
While the cockpit selfie and walking on the wings definitely seem to be the most fun, the restaurant doesn’t take its food aspect too lightly. Their menu for instance, is crafted by Chef Antoine Rodriguez. He is not only an Executive Chef at Le Meridien but also a familiar face in the culinary industry, with 30 years of experience cooking around the world. Another USP is that this menu which consists of international cuisine is changed every three months. (This is a big plus as this-way your taste buds will never get bored).
Setting up such restaurants is always a task. When queried the biggest challenge they faced till date, the company told BucketList.Asia that it was the logistics part. Moving the Boeing 737 into the centre of the Malaysian Capital was the toughest part, it explained. It added that moving it out of the busy city would be even tougher because of which it had decided to extend Plane In The City to another year.
For those in KL or visiting the beautiful city, we would suggest you visit this place, as it seems to be one heaven(we dint want to use the term ‘hell’ J)of an experience. Before concluding, we want to share a tip handed out to us by the company – “For economy class, we have a better rate on weekday which is RM259 per person as for weekends, the economy class are sold at RM 299 per person.”
