First things first – Why is having a round bed in a hotel room such a Big Deal?? Simple – Because you hardly find one!! We have travelled to quite a few number of destinations and stayed in umpteen number of hotels but have never found a round bed and when we did – we knew it had to be covered here!!!
Located in Hyderabad, this hotel is called Bikanervala Boutique Hotel. According to one of their employees Mr. Ranjan (who by the way showed
exemplary service to us), the hotel was started in about 2009 and currently has 250 employees. It is owned by a Delhi company called Bikanervala that is primarily into manufacturing Indian sweets and namkeens (savory snack foods).
So that’s about the background, now lets get back to the room. It is designed well, pretty roomy and comfortable for a typical family of 2 adults + 2 small kids. The circular bed is definitely the highlight here. All other things seem to have been planned around it. For instance there are three prominent light fixtures – all of which are round/circular in shape, one on top of the bed, one behind and the third on the work desk. The false ceiling and the wall too have curves, something similar to that of a crescent and went hand in hand with the circular theme of the room.
The colour theme in the room is red and white. This has been extended to the washroom as well, where the highlight is the rain shower – which again is circular in shape. There is a lit bit of wood used in the room as well. As for amenities, the room has a sofa couch, a work bench, a wardrobe with a safe inside to store your valuables.
Enough said. We will let the pictures below do more of the talking now.
Moving on, the hotel comes with a few other perks such as being centrally located (Banjara Hills) and delicious food.
If you are a tourist, the hotel is just about 4-5 kms from local attractions such as Lumbini park, Hussain Sagar Lake, NTR Gardens and Salar Jung Museum. You have Hyderabad’s legendary Karachi Bakery right next door. There are many shopping malls as well nearby with GVK One Mall (one of the well-known ones) being less than 3kms from the hotel.
Coming to the food, they have two restaurants. One is a fine dine and the other is a quick service one. Both serve only vegetarian food only. Their unlimited breakfast buffet which was included in the room price was AMAZING!! They serve snacks such dhoklas and samosas, drinks such as lassi, South Indian food such as upma, idli & dosas, North Indian fare such as stuffed paratha and chole batura and Continental such as sandwiches and cereal and finally (phew) sweets such as jamun and halwa. And YES its UNLIMITED.
So, the next time you are in Hyderabad, do dial them up if you are looking for a place to crash.
