An aquarium restaurant, a 60-meter swimming pool, kids water slides, a 250-step grand staircase, suites with private plunge pools, amazing views & architecture – all set in a quiet beachfront setting. This, latest resort in Nusa Dua is redefining luxury – reason why it should be on your BucketList!!

Hello readers!! Today, we are bringing to you, a brand new luxury hotel. And yes, we are going back to Bali (not literally of course..though we wish) to cover this one. This time around, the latest discovery we have made is in the beautiful island of Nusa Dua, in southern Bali, Indonesia.

Without further suspense (oh wait..isn’t it adieu), the latest luxury holiday getaway we are going to feature today is – The Apurva Kempinski Bali.

Opened in February 2019, this 475-room/suite beachfront resort is just 15-minutes from the airport. (Talk about convenience). It has beendesigned byaward winning architect Budiman Hendropurnomo of UK-based Denton Corker Marshall. Going by the pictures and description, we must say, that the German-based Kempinski Hotels group has successfully managed to redefine ‘Luxury’ with this property.

Why?? Well, this is amid their features and facilities. For starters, this resort has Bali’s first aquarium restaurant. (yes…you heard that right). How many hotels can you think of having such a feature?? There is just 2-3 that we can think of, such as the one at Burj Al Arab, Dubai. This in-itself makes this property stand out from the lot.

Speaking more on the same, the resort told BucketList.Asia, “Located underground, in the main hotel forecourt right under Pala Restaurant, Koral – Bali’s first aquarium dining experience – will take diners into an enchanting setting surrounded by vibrant sea life. Magically opening to a live aquarium of coral and coral fish, Koral Restaurant brings the wonders of the ocean to your table.” It added that this restaurant’s menu is inspired by the archipelago’s grilled goodness and will offer to its guest freshly barbecued selections with spices favoured by locals. (now this sounds like a must-try experience)

Hotel Tip – When here, have their signature dish – a Lobster (fresh from Lombok waters) poached in salted butter accompanied by an array of greens and herbs and a thick black pesmol sauce, inspired by the traditional dish from West Java.

Including this, the resort will in total have six restaurants, bars and lounge. While Japanese flavours will be showcased at Izakaya by OKU, their Selasar Deli at the lobby will serve refreshments like specialty luwak coffee and jamu herbal tonic. Meanwhile, their All Day Dining Pala Restaurant & Rooftop Bar will have live cooking stations and also serve local and international cuisines. Then, they also have the casual oceanfront dining at Reef Beach Club and the poolside Kubu Pool Bar. (phew …that quite a choice)

What caught our attention though, is the 7 touches breakfast at their Pala restaurant. It is said to include a 1) a Pass Around, every 20 minutes of freshly baked pastries and Jamu, 2) a home-made Chocolate Spread, made out of top-grade cocoa. 3) honey served on a Honeycomb, 4)  Power shots having a concentrate of vitamins, 5) Bircher Muesli, 6) a selection of Asian dishes and 7) a selection of fresh fruits and vegetable juices.(phew..with a breakfast spread like can definitely forego lunch)

Now, let’s talk about the pool. All luxury properties today come with a huge pool but here, the pool is 60-metres in length. Now that’s lengthier than an Olympic-size pool. A couple of laps here is enough to get you hungry/thirsty and to quench the same,  there is the poolside bar – Kubu, where guests can enjoy light meals and exotic drinks, while basking in the sun on a lounge chair.

The USP list doesn’t end here. Kempinski Hotels has made sure the property is kid friendly. They have a separate pool facility. Oh and how does the kids pool stand out?? Well, it has 2 fun waterslides and if that were not enough, it also a sand pool, which gives them the look and feel of a lovely white sandy beach. ( cool is that)

Oh wait. There’s more for kids. The property will have a dedicated Family Club (set to open in Q2 2019), which will keep the lil ones engaged with activities that are both educational and entertaining. These activities would be available every day and would include a Balinese dance class, a kite-making experience, face painting and a Bahasa (the local language) class. (Now that should give parents a lot of free time)

Now, moving on to their rooms. While they have 10 plus categories of stay options, 60% of them come with its own private plunge pool. Now that’s quite a ratio and is definitely luxury redefined. “True to our tropical settings, 176 suites and 43 villas come with their own private pool whilst 48 Grand Deluxe Rooms have direct access to a lagoon pool.”, the resort revealed.

What caught our fancy however was their most luxurious room offering – The Apurva Prestige Ocean Suite. Having a panoramic view of the Indian Ocean, this 200 sq m suite features a bedroom, a separate living room, a private plunge pool, a large terrace, a spacious bathroom featuring an outdoor bath, his and hers shower room, a dressing facility, a well-appointed pantry and a powder room. Oh .. and if that’s not enough, guests staying here get to enjoy exclusive access to the Cliff Lounge and Cliff Lounge pools. (money may not be able to buy happiness..but it can definitely buy luxury experiences)

Last but not the least is the hotel’s architecture. We consider this very essential for any luxury property. Architect Budiman Hendropurnomo is said to have drawn inspiration from the island’s rice terraces and their centuries-old ‘subak’ irrigation system to create the concept for the property. “Modern Balinese architecture pays homage to the island’s natural landscapes and manmade temples, in a symphony of natural-clad stone buildings, bougainvillea-covered terraces and a network of waterways and shimmering pools.”, the resort described.

What stood out for us is the resort’s spectacular Grand Staircase,  that features a 250-step walkway, inspired by Bali’s sacred Pura Besakih water temple. What makes it more special is that this runs through the centre of the resort, and provides an actual stage for nightly rituals. Now, how thoughtful and creative is that. Such features definitely redefine luxury.

Hotel Tip/Offer for those planning to visit – The dry season from June to September is what the hotel says is the most popular time of year to visit. This is amid the weather and the popular festivals like the Bali Kite Festival, which one can experience.

They are providing 30% off the best available rate as a special opening offer that is available until 31 May 2019. (

To conclude – This has been one of our most extensive coverage’s of any resort till date. Trust us, we tried to reduce the number of words but anything less than this wouldn’t do justice to this beautiful resort. Hope you enjoyed reading it as much as we loved writing about it.

And finally, that’s a wrap … sampai Lain waktu!!
