Raffles Hotels has just opened a luxury 21-villa Beach Island Experience in the Maldives & we have completely fallen in love with it!!

Maldives, the tropical nation in the Indian Ocean, is home to many luxury resorts and hotels, each having its own distinct characteristic. However, what was missing was the iconic Raffles brand, one that is considered by many as the epitome of luxury.

This void now seems to be fulfilled, thanks to Raffles Maldives Meradhoo, which has officially opened its doors to the public on 9 May 2019. While this marks its parent company, Accor’s fourth property in the Maldives, it is the first under the Raffles brand & that makes this property extremely special.

Located on the rare Maldivian oasis of Gaafu Alifu Atoll, the luxury hotel is accessible by domestic flight, 55 minutes from the Male International Airport followed by a 15-minute speedboat ride from the Kaadedhdhoo Airport.

It currently consists of 21 beach villas, all of which come with a private pool, a generous living space, a lavish marble bathroom with a sunken bathtub and an outdoor shower. In case, your accommodation preference is over-water villas, you may have to wait till the last quarter of 2019, during which Raffles is expected to launch the same.

Overall, we loved the minimalistic, blue & white design language. It just seems perfect for all those who are seeking a private get-away. It could also be ideal for those seeking to enjoy the natural pristine water surroundings, considering the magnificent reefs provide a thriving habitat for marine life including baby sharks, turtles and a variety of tropical fish. What more, the hotel has a resident marine biologist and a team of marine butlers to provide personalised experiences to guests on the beautiful insights of the underwater world.

Since most guests are known to visit the Maldives for relaxation, Raffles has ensured its award-winning spa offering is available to its guests here. Set over the water, the Raffles Spa offers luxury facials by Paris-based Biologique Rechercheand and first class manicure and pedicure concepts from Magaret Dabbs London.

For those, seeking more than just relaxation, the Raffles Maldives Meradhoo, offers an over-water fitness center, soothing seaside yoga sessions and a host of water sport activities such as snorkeling and diving. So, basically, irrespective of what type of traveller you are, they have something for you.

All these activities are definitely bound to make you hungry. And to take care of that, Raffles has three dining options. First being the Thari, an all-day diner. Then you have the Peruvian and Japanese fusion restaurant called Yuzu. Third is The Firepit, ideal for those who enjoy flame-grilled dishes under the stars.

And for those looking for  a romantic dining setting, the property offers various options such as an intimate dining experience with their private chef, caviar breakfasts on a sandbank, most thrillingly reached by jet ski and sunset cruises with champagne. We are pretty sure these will be the most sought after, considering the tropical nation has been the preferred destination choice for honeymooners for a while.

Raffles also have two bars – Yapa Sunset Bar and Long Bar. While the latter is said to house some of the World’s most prestigious champagnes and wines, the latter is the place if you seek to enjoy a selection of tapas and freshly-prepared sashimi along with original cocktail concoctions, inspired by the national drinks of South America and Japan.

To conclude, we loved the new Raffles property (going by the pics). This coupled with the legendary service, they are known for, it is very unlikely that your stay here would be anything less than blissful. So, if Maldives is the next destination on your mind, do consider this property for a wonderful luxury experience!!
